![]() The boys and girls varsity teams racked up wins yesterday in action at Cross Lanes Christian School on a beautiful day in front of a supportive and sizable crowd of students and parents. The SJ boys came out and quickly took control of of game momentum, ending in a 1-0 win. Senior #2 Ethan Karnes headed the ball in off a beautiful service from Senior #32 Nick Turner in the 6th minute of play. The Irish continued their pressure for a second goal through the rest of the game, putting an additional 8 shots on goal that were saved by the Cross Lanes keeper. Junior keeper #1 Rob Blair had a total of two saves in the game. His second save came late in the 2nd period with a well-timed tip to deflect a hard, steep-angled shot out of the right corner from a Crusaders striker Click here for the boys game stats. ![]() The Irish ladies continued their pressure in the second half, moving the ball well on the ground and shutting down the occasional Crusader attempt to move the ball back into Irish territory. Hanna Edwards chested a corner kick service from Senior #11 Danni Lobo into the net at the 50th minute, followed by another send-in from the 18 yard box perimeter by #22 Ferin Neff off of a nicely-placed pass from Kara Anderson in the 52nd minute. Nikki Lobo connected with the ball and scored again during a scramble off a corner kick by Hanna Edwards in the 54th minute. The girls finished with a score by Junior # 24 Katie Armstead on a hard shot deflected off of the Cross Lanes keepers hands. Junior keeper #5 Amber Chadwick had one save and earned her first clean sheet of the season. |
