September 7, 2010 @ Spring Valley High School -

The girls varsity team fell to Spring Valley today, 0 - 3, and the boys varsity team came from behind late in the game to tie, 1  - 1, in match play today at Spring Valley High School.

The St. Joe girls team played good defense against an onslaught of Spring Valley shots, but were unable to move the ball through the midfield up to the strikers throughout the game to counter.  Spring Valley striker, #1 Chelsey Seay, scored all three lady Timberwolf goals (19th, 29th, and 69th minute marks). Irish keeper, Amber Chadwick had 10 saves. Defender # 15 Kara Anderson also had a save.

The boys varsity team played a scoreless first half against Spring Valley, with only 3 shots on goal (St Joe - 1, Spring Valley - 2) and the ball staying mostly in the midfield.  The Timberwolves visibly stepped up their play in the second half, scoring a goal in the 59th minute when #9 Duncan Waugaman sent a shot into the net off a crossing pass from #10, Dakota McCoy. The Irish continued their defense and switched up the lineup, moving #25 Josh Pierson up to striker position around the 70 minute mark.  Pierson soon found space, passing the ball to #32, Nick Turner in the 72nd minute, who found the net and evened the score at 1 - 1.
