Four St. Joe seniors participated in the 2011 U.S. Youth Soccer Region I Tournament in Lancaster, PA, June 30 - July 5. Senior keeper #1 Rob Blair and Senior midfielder #4 Evan Bolano played with the U-17 WV 2011 State Cup champions - WVSC Elite Titans. Senior midfielder #11 Troy Silva played on the U-16 WV 2011 State Cup champions - WVSC Wizards. Both WVSC teams played tough, but faced formidible opponents in the preliminary round and were unable to make it to the semi-finals stage. Senior #15 Quinton Mays was chosen to be on the WV referee delegation, serving at center and line referee positions in nine U-12 and U-13 boys and girls preliminary round matches, a U-13 girls semi-finals match, and a U-12 girls finals match. The Region I tournament brings together U-12 through U-19 State Cup teams every year from Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia to determine regional champions. U-14 through U-19 champions proceed onto the 2011 U.S. Youth National Championship Tournament, being held this year in Pheonix, AZ. |
