Irish Soccer History

St. Joseph fields both Boys and Girls varsity and junior varsity teams.  We are a AA-A class member of the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission (WVSSAC). Our teams play private and public high schools throughout West Virginia during the fall season. WVSSAC divides the state into 4 regions, each having 2 sections, in order to establish playoff flights. Our teams are members of WV Region 4, Section 2.

Boys Soccer

St. Joseph first put a team on the soccer pitch in 1978.  In 1988, the first year that the WVSSAC sanctioned high school soccer play in the state, the boys' team brought home the State Championship cup, and was a runner-up in the next four State championships.  Our last appearance in the State Tournament was in 1997, as runner-up for the boys' title.
